Extra! Extra! We were voted one of the top 10 trail races in Canada. Check it out here.

The Yukon River Trail Marathon, small by almost any standard, grew out of a movement to trail running that also lead to increased interest in ultra-distance running. The trail is both scenic and challenging, and as a loop course offers a diverse and rewarding introduction to Yukon trail running. Rick Janowicz and Rob McWilliam originated the concept and organized the event for a number of years.

Rick is still involved with race organization, and Rob has run almost every event. The Yukon River Trail Marathon builds on a history of previous Whitehorse marathons, including the Midnight Gold Marathon that was run on a date close to the summer solstice, finishing close to midnight.
